WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO VISIT?
I have spent a lot of time working on hotels in Hawaii. Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit. It is beautiful with varied landscapes and unbeatable beaches. I have found the people to be very welcoming, kind, and genuine. I visited Alaska with my extended family. The beauty, the mountains, and the ruggedness made quite an impression on me. Alaska is vast and powerful. Sadly, I fear it is running out of time.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in San Francisco, California but moved to New Haven, CT for kindergarten. I went to high school in a suburb of New Haven. New Haven is a small city with lots of character. I still love it! It was the birthplace of PIZZA!!! I went to college in New York, on the Hudson River. I lived in France for a year with my wife and went to graduate school in San Diego, California. Since then, my wife and I have lived in Connecticut, New York City, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut (again).

WHAT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULDN’T GUESS ABOUT YOU?
I can juggle fire.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELIEVE STRESS?
My first and best step for stress relief is to go outside. I can manage perspective much more easily when I am outdoors, and managing perspective usually relieves much of my stress. I look at and listen to the river. I take a walk. I breathe deeply. If I cannot conveniently go outside, I might listen to reggae. If there are animals around I would visit them. There is nothing like visiting with a dog to put everything in perspective.

WHO IS THE BEST BAND TO SEE LIVE?
Fishbone. They perform with such dynamic and wild energy. It is utterly contagious.

WHAT BOOKS ARE ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND?
Writings Interviews by Richard Serra

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE AND WHY?
La Cite Des Enfants Perdus (City of Lost Children). It’s hard to explain why. Some of my attraction comes from the time and place I saw the movie. I was living in the South of France and it was the first movie I saw that I could understand in French. The words in the movie are less important than the visuals. It is a very odd movie, filled with dark and brooding imagery. The story and the storytelling are unlike anything else I have seen and it took me by surprise. I loved it and still do!
