Addie Smith Earns Prestigious CLD Certification
DENVER, COLORADO 1/24/2022 – Addie Smith, Senior Lighting Designer, AE Design Inc. has earned the Certified Lighting Designer (CLD), the first international, evidence-based certification in architectural lighting design, which demonstrates that she has a proven track record of excellence and has successfully validated her skill to a rigorous assessment process that define high standards of professional practice.
The certification process, governed by the Certified Lighting Design Commission, is designed to assess ability to operate as a lead architectural lighting designer in a professional and proficient manner by considering a person’s imaginative, technical, and professional responsibility skills.

Addie is a passionate and award-winning designer who seeks to elevate the human experience with the transformative power of light. With her BFA in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), she has over ten years of professional architectural lighting design experience working in New York City, Chicago, and Denver. Her career aspirations are guided by beautiful experiences, human connection, and place-making. She is propelled forward via her ongoing journey of observation, creative self-expression through dance and art, and diverse community. She brings elegance and ingenuity to a wide range of projects – from luxury retail, residential, and hospitality to mixed-use, civic, academic, and exterior site and landscape. She serves as a Rocky Mountain Region Co-Coordinator for the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), is a board member for the local chapter of Women in Lighting Design (WILD), is an Associate Member of the IIDA, is a Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and is a LEED ID+C Accredited Professional.
