Key Takeaways from AIA Practice + Design 2022: A Time to Learn, Reflect & Connect

This year, AIA’s signature educational event, the Practice + Design Conference, returned to Keystone Resort. As the seasons turned and winter descended upon Colorado’s iconic Rocky Mountains, the event not only provided informative and thought-provoking sessions but also focused on wellness and connection, providing the industry with a unique opportunity to connect with nature and each other, and relax and rejuvenate.

From starting our day with morning yoga or a Rocky Mountain run to exchanging stories with our friends in the industry over coffee chats, lunch meetings, and happy hours, the event set everyone up for success to take a deep dive into advanced practice management methods.

As a longstanding supporter of AIA, particularly in the Colorado market, AE Design was proud to represent and support our very own Melina Saunders and Addie Smith in their insightful session: Learning Lab: Lighting Design 201: From Concept to CA, which is also now an available Lunch N Learn opportunity for our clients and partners!

This session sparked discussion around integrated lighting techniques and styles in lighting design, color temperature, CRI, and optics, as well as coordination through the specification process. Together, Melina and Addie focused on emphasizing and delivering the best lighting design for specific project types based on the end users’ needs and goals. They highlighted how integrating lighting solutions as part of overall design goals could increase project sustainability, safety (interior and exterior), and wellness of occupants.

AIA Colorado's Practice + Design Conference is always a fantastic time for the community of architects in the Rocky Mountain region to come together for inspiring insights from global design leaders and learn practical innovations from industry partners.

As we reflect on another successful AIA Colorado Practice + Design Conference, our team is sharing their key takeaways and experiences connecting with the best and brightest in the industry:
